The Bluebells seem to have flowered early this year

We had our first sightings of Bluebells near Sizergh on Saturday, and then again this week on another bank this time near Brock Bottom Mill in the Forest of Bowland. The Primroses, Wood Anemone and Wood Sorrell all seem bright and beautiful this year and we also spotted Butterbur. Did you know that there is a website devoted to the Butterbur plant and it's use as a herbal remedy? http://www.butterbur.co.uk/

Casualty of the April storms?

This beautifully constructed blackbirds' nest with it's three colourful eggs seems to have been blown out of the laurel hedge. It's a real shame - we hope the birds will rebuild and try again.

Forest of Bowland Photo walk

On 30th June we took part in a walk at Craven Ridge (near Lawkland) arranged as part of the Forest of Bowland Festival. It was an absolutely glorious day and we managed to take lots of great photos (much improved) with the expert assistance of our leader Veronica Caperon. We can only show a few here but if you want to view more why not visit http://www.flickr.com/groups/cravenridge/
It was interesting to see Ingleborough from a totally different angle than that we see daily at Parkfoot.

What a winter we have had! Beautiful but very cold - the temperature dropped to -18 here at Parkfoot and was still -12 at lunch time!
